WELCOME TO
envp 2026

Environmental Pollutants 2026 is an interdisciplinary meeting focused on contaminants across environmental and food systems. It brings together researchers, regulators, and industry professionals to share knowledge, discuss current challenges, and strengthen collaboration across scientific and applied fields.

Held in Copenhagen on 28 September 2026, the programme includes keynote lectures, parallel presentations, poster presentations, and industry exhibition. Topics for the parallel presentations include air pollution, ecotoxicology, non-target screening, PFAS, plastics and microplastics, and treatment of contaminated water.

Environmental Pollutants 2026 is organized by the Partnership for Environmental Pollutants, a collaborative initiative established by researchers from University of Copenhagen, Technical University of Denmark, Aarhus University, Aalborg University, University of Southern Denmark, and Roskilde University.

Keynote speakers

Marlene Ågerstrand, Keynote speaker at ENVP 2026

Marlene Ågerstrand

Morning keynote speaker

Marlene Ågerstrand is a researcher at Stockholm University whose work explores how science informs decision-making and how chemical regulation operates in practice. In her talk, she will discuss the role of science in the management and regulation of chemicals, highlighting both its strengths and its limitations. She will examine situations in which scientific evidence alone is insufficient and explore why science may fail to provide clear answers for policy and regulatory decisions. The talk will offer insights into the challenges of translating scientific knowledge into effective chemical management and the factors that shape decisions beyond the scientific evidence itself.
Hans Jørgen Nielsen, Keynote speaker at ENVP 2026

Hans Jørgen Nielsen

Afternoon keynote speaker

We are constantly told that we live in the most dangerous times in history. The evidence says otherwise.

Hans Jørgen Nielsen, co-author of Frygtens Karrusel (The Fear Carousel), takes us behind the headlines and into the machinery that makes the world seem far scarier than it is. Through concrete cases, from mobile phone scares to the myths around Chernobyl, he shows why facts alone rarely win the argument, and what to do about it. His message is uncomfortable but liberating: you have no god-given right to be heard. You must earn it.

For anyone who works with risk, communicates science, or wonders why solid evidence so often loses to a scary story.

Hans Jørgen Nielsen is an author, speaker, director, and teaches political and economic communication. His book Frygtens Karrusel explores how we are wired for fear, and how easily that is exploited.
